«Among the many genres of architectural drawings, the capriccio describes an artificially composed architectural
fantasy. The genre that had been developed in early modern times gained prominence in 17th century drawing.
Capricci are architectural pieces, created as a dreamlike interpretation of a subject that comes from pure imagination.
The subject can be implemented into an unfamiliar surrounding. It can be imagined in different states of
construction, in a future appearance, or as a ruin. It is possible to change size and scale of the subject or even
the style or character.

In the workshop we will look at how architects used capricci for depicting their fantasies. We will step into the
century-old technique of drawing with pen and wash to finally create our own fantastical drawing by referencing
a building that inspires us personally.»
