Application to visualize nuclear data user-friendly and efficiently.
Flask, Python, JS, HTML, CSS
The project aims to develop a user-friendly interface for visualizing data from ASTEC simulations, improving the situation awareness and decision-making capabilities of researchers. We will achieve this objective by leveraging our expertise in user experience, informed by research from the Nielsen Norman Group and by implementing a design methodology that prioritizes the needs and preferences of the user.
A serious nuclear reactor accident can be simulated using ASTEC (Accident Source Term Evaluation Code). Researchers use it to evaluate nuclear reactor safety, specify steps to prevent or lessen accidents, and improve safety protocols. ASTEC's interface is slow, prone to crashes, and hard to use, making data analysis difficult.
We successfully developed a visualization interface called ixtli that significantly enhances the usability of ASTEC simulation data by offering intuitive navigation and fast data visualization. Our solution not only meets the immediate needs of our customer but also sets the stage for ongoing development and scalability.
