Redesign of the myAVOS app with the role of an informal caregiver as the main focus.
The first goal was to change the UI, especially the data visualizations, in a way that is more effective and more appealing to the caregivers. The second goal was to improve the caregiver's understanding of health data in a conversational user interface.
OptiChroniX is developing an application called myAVOS, which combines multiple features found in different health apps. The app can be used by people with dementia and by their caregivers.
One important aspect of the myAVOS app is the visualization of health data. A huge amount of data is collected throughout the app, so it is necessary to display it in a meaningful way. Some of it was designed and later implemented, but there are also data visualizations that were created without first verifying the usability of the design. Therefore, it is not clear whether these data visualizations are comprehensible in the way they are implemented in the existing myAVOS app.
Another important aspect is the chatbot inside the myAVOS app. The chatbot is the centerpiece where all sorts of questions can be asked. Additionally, the chatbot regularly checks on the users via notifications. Currently, the chatbot is not integrated well with the data visualization aspects of the application.
Currently, the app is developed hybrid with React Native, with the iOS version being further developed, than the Android version. The app has not been released to the market, yet.
The result of this IP5-project is a Figma prototype with improved data visualizations and references or integrations of data visualizations within the chatbot. As the focus is on improving the design, only the improved data visualizations for the nutrition screen are implemented in the app.
