Swiss Yodelling Assessment
Digitalization of the juror evaluation at Swiss Yodelling events – stress-free, efficient and user-friendly.
Evaluation of a performance
Initial Situation/Problem statement
The yodelling community in Switzerland stages multiple events per year where a wide variety of groups showcase their skills in a competitive setting. For each performance, three jurors evaluate different musical aspects and grade it on a predefined scale. Currently, this is done on printed spreadsheets that are later scanned and assessed manually. Our app aims to replace this process and support the Swiss Yodelling Association in transitioning to a system that can be used reliably in the years to come. As many yodelling festivals take place in idyllic Swiss locations where a stable internet connection is not always guaranteed, a key challenge is the handling of data synchronisation when devices are offline.
Project Goal
With our digital solution for the Swiss Yodelling Assessment, we aim to reduce unnecessary pressure on the jurors and allow them to focus on the music rather than the paperwork. The web application increases efficiency, lowers stress, and sustainably improves the evaluation process by being reliable, flexible, and easy to use.
Scanning music scores
The implemented scan function allows multi-page music scores to be digitally scanned. In offline mode, these are saved locally.
Generate with AI
One feature of our project was the generation of the overall impression sentence using AI. Clicking on "Generate" creates the sentence based on the ratings entered above.
Our client's yodelling group
On June 13, 2025, the team was invited to the yodelling festival in Reigoldswil. Pictured here is a spontaneous private concert.
Developed Solution and its benefit
Our digital solution simplifies the evaluation process for jurors and meets the demands of today’s digital world. Key features include dynamic evaluations based on different types of yodels and a comprehensive, multi-stage approval process. The web app works offline and automatically synchronises with the central database once the device is back online. It allows users to switch logins while offline, enables devices to establish peer-to-peer connections to synchronise ratings and validations, and supports local storage of photographed musical scores. To reduce the workload of jury members, once all ratings are completed, the jury lead can generate an AI-supported summary statement based on the jurors’ evaluations and adapt it to their personal style. After the completion of a festival, the festival lead can generate a PDF export of the rating for each performance and provide every yodel group with their personal evaluation.
Key improvements and benefits include:
- Digital rating process with adjustable criteria
- Easy, device-agnostic web application with personalised logins
- Online and offline functionality for maximum flexibility
- Increased attractiveness of the assessment process, especially for younger generations
- Integrated score scanning feature
- AI-generated overall impression based on the jurors’ evaluations
