Summary

No more excuses for cancelled lessons! Thanks to our web application it is possible for schools to find suitable substitute teachers, even on short notice. Potential substitute teachers receive announcements about open positions in their region and can easily apply for the entire period or for individual lessons.

Project goal

Teacher Pool Tool aims to match schools with an available pool of substitute teachers to find the best qualified substitute teacher in record time.

Initial situation

Every day, there are teachers absent from school due to illness or other reasons. School administration offices invest a great deal of effort to find substitute teachers to cover the lessons. Schools must regularly look for substitutes at the last minute, which requires a lot of effort and no easy way to do so. Each school handles this process individually and there are no platforms or services to support them.

Results

As a project team we implemented the following core features:

• Teachers can register themselves in the Teacher Pool
• Schools can create announcements for vacancies
• The announcement consists of the specific lessons for which a substitute teacher is needed
• Teachers can apply for single lessons or for the whole duration
• Schools can accept applications from substitute teachers
• Schools can store their timetable with the specific start and end times of the lessons (as start times can vary from school to school)
