The goal of the project is to digitalise and centralise the presentation selection for second year students and minimalise the effort of data management thereby created for the administrators.
Before the web application was developed, the FMS Basel administration created various excel sheets for different roles. For the presentation selection, each class was given a timeslot to pick out three presentations per student. They went into the administration office as a class and each student wrote down three presentations on a paper. Afterwards, the administration needed to make a selection of participants for each presentation and update their overview one by one. When the excel sheet was updated, each student needed to be informed individually on which presentations she or he will attend. If anything about the presentation changed, the participants needed to be addressed individually again.
The SA-Organisation web application is an all-in-one package centralising everything needed for the selection management process in one handy tool. The administration is able to manage the presentations, update the students about changes and export attendance sheets with a few clicks. The students are able to pick out their presentations on the go from their smartphone.
