The SMART web application provide farmers with personalised information about their sustainability in order to make improvements where necessary.
The goal is to provide the proposed web application to farmers with personalised information within an interactive user interface to encourage them to learn from their sustainability assessment and make improvements as needed.
While the complexity of sustainability analysis can be managed well in research, farmers are often overwhelmed with the large amount of data. In addition, the assessment results are still presented in the form of a multi-page paper document that can not be adapted to the needs of an individual farmer. For this reason FiBL commissioned students from the FHNW to develop a suitable web application.
The web application developed by the students provides farmers with a user-friendly and understandable online tool that shows them their best and worst results at a glance. This gives them a good overview of the sustainability of their farm and enables them to take measures for improvement. Furthermore, the web application offers a detailed overview of all achieved results, if further insight into the results is desired. All informations are accessible via login function. Bug fixes and stability improvements of the entire application will round off the project.
The following features were developed as part of the web application:
September 2020 - June 2021
Man-hours (180 hours/person per semester)
Teamsize: 6 persons
Total over two semester: 2'160 hours
