Digital Democracy - fast and simple. This is our vision for our open-source platform. Propelling democracy into the digital age by streamlining political processes.
The goal of this project was to build a web-based platform for the Social-democratic Party of Switzerland which enables members to engage and discuss amdendments to the party's papers.
The SP lives democracy. Members can influence position papers of the party by formulating amendments that will be voted on. In order to hand in such an amendment, members need to write it, find at least ten other members that support it and then send it to the secretary of the party. This process currently relies on e-mail and is rather cumbersome both for the people writing amendments and for the people working in administration who process the amendments. This proves to be a burden for the democratic process in the party.
Digital Democracy fully automates this once manually practiced process. This reduces workloads and provides a higher overall efficiency for our customer. Members can easily formulate, discuss and enter amendments, thus, more people can participate and influence the position of the party. At the same time, the workload of the administrative staff is reduced. The comment section allows party members to engage with each other already before the assembly. The platform includes support for translating the papers and amendments.
