Our client, Horlogerie Deutschmann, is run as a family business which manufactures and repairs watches. Horlogerie Deutschmann not only wants to be able to fulfill the individual wishes of its customers, but also claims to have the maximum possible Swiss content in its products. Horlogerie Deutschmann wanted to digitize the information of the watches like warranty, date of build etc. and also have a timeline so that both manufacturer and customer can see the history of watches. In the future, Horlogerie Deutschmann wants to use the application for communication purposes with its customers in the form of a chat functionality. Due to the project stop because of COVID, the chat functionality got out of our project scope.
To manufacture or repair a watch, there are many individual processes for each watch. Our client currently stores all the information regarding those processes on paper. This can cause a mess from time to time and delays to retrieve the information. In addition, the customers of Horlogerie Deutschmann cannot see any information of their watch digitally. It would be a great value for their customers to see all information online. So they know what issues the watch had, when it was built and if they still have warranty
Our web application gives Horlogerie Deutschmann and its customers a way to document the history of their watches. Horlogerie Deutschmann gains a simpler and digitized way to document its watches (technical details, build date, repairs, services, etc.) The employees of a watchmaker gain an app through which they can check and review past or present services, repairs, etc.
Below are the core features that we have implemented:
The project started in February 2020, but was paused shortly after until July 2020 due to the COVID crisis. As our project changed in March, the eight of us had worked about 20 hours each for this project in the fourth semester and will have worked around 180 hours each after the fifth semester. So total man-hours for this project will be around 1600 hours.
