Optimising an algorithm used to reconstruct images of solar flares.
Visual Studio, C#, solar research
VIS_CS is an algorithm, created at FHNW, which reconstructs images of solar flares from data collected by the NASA satellite RHESSI. The algorithm depends on seven parameters, which were initially selected arbitrarily.
To find an ideal parameter set for VIS_CS, such that it runs as efficiently and accurately as possible.
Using grid search, we found a parameter set with which the algorithm runs several times as fast and slightly more accurately.
